Essential Question #2

While over at a friends house we started talking about jobs, I found out that one of my friend's dads is a nuclear engineer. When I asked him what he did he said that his dad worked with submarines and radioactive materials. I don't really know if I want to be working with hazardous materials during a job but this made me think about the jobs that engineers had in general so I did a search on the Internet. I found out that an engineers work involves a lot of math and science, my two favorite subjects. The basic job of an engineer is to develop and design something that will help with technical problems. I thought that some of these jobs were pretty cool. An example of an engineer's work is the construction of a robot. They first make the design of the robot, then slowly build it while testing each part of it as it goes on. This job may be a good choice for me in the future.

My Essential Question

In class we were assigned to make a question up that we could answer every cycle. My question is "What do I want to do later on in life?" The answers that I had so far to this question have been things like jobs that interested me. I think that I first need to take little steps to figure out what I want to become. I thought that college would be a good place to start. I want to go to collage because it will show my parents that I can succeed in life and it increase my chances in getting a good job. I think that the classes that I like now will reflect the courses that I will choose in the future. Right now I am doing well in science and math, so I might want to major in one of those areas. Since I like math a lot more, I think that I would like a job later on that involves using equations and numbers. I know with my grades right now I will need a little more effort to get into a good college. I know from experience that it will be hard to get into a good college because my brother was having a hard time when he was looking a year ago.

family story part 1

When my brother was in kindergarten he brought home a baby chick that they had hatched in school. At first my parents told him that we couldn't take care of a chicken at home so he would have to take it back to school, but after a while of crying my parents agreed to keeping it as long as it stayed with my grandpa. We named him JJ because of the first initials of mine and my brothers name. As the months went on we noticed that JJ didn't look like a regular rooster. Then one day we found an egg in his cage. JJ was a girl chicken and was laying eggs. Eventually JJ became my grandpa's chicken and we stopped seeing JJ. In some chicken's eggs they have double yolks which are pretty rare. But in JJ's eggs their were always a double yolk egg which made her special. Every time I see the cage in my grandpa's yard I always remember JJ our special chicken.

Intro

Hey my name is Jeff and I'm a 9th grader at Punahou school. I have many nicknames so you can use anything you choose. My friends and teammates call me Jonaga or Onaga. In football I am an offensive line man and I also throw for track. Even though my technique is not the best yet I think that with a lot of practice and hard work I can get that much closer to reaching my goals.
The heros in my life are my parents, coaches, friends and teachers.

Purpose of Blog

This blog is a way for me to share my writing and ideas with the public. I hope that this blog will not only improve my writing skills but also help me with my computer skills. The only times that I go on the computer are to play games or type papers because of the lack of interaction with the computer my typing skills are minimal. In fact I type 20 words per minute and hope to increase that speed by using this blog. I think that this blog is a great way for people who don't like to write papers because its not like your typing a paper, but more like your typing on aim or myspace.
